1- Shershaah
Sidharth Malhotra starrer Shershah is a biographical war film based on (PVC) the winner of the Param Vir Chakra Award (India’s highest military decoration) the late Captain Vikram Batra. It explores the story of Captain Batra’s first posting in the military until his passing in the 1999 Kargil War with Pakistan.
The IMDb rating of this war film is 8.7 out of 10. Besides Siddharth who plays the role of Captain Batra, Kiara Advani plays her fiancé, namely Dimple Cheema. It is available on the Amazon Prime Video streaming platform.
In 2nd place we have a recently released action thriller Dhamaka, directed by Neerja (2016) famous Ram Madhvani. It features Kartik Aryan as a 24/7 Bharosa reporter. He started receiving death threats after interviewing a notorious terrorist.
Mrunal Thakur plays the lead actress opposite Kartik. It is available on the giant Netflix streaming platform. Kartik’s performance was praised by critics. This thriller’s IMDb rating is 7.9 / 10.
This is a historical drama based on the life of Indian freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh who took revenge for the horrific Jalianwala bagh massacre of 1919 by then assassinating the Punjab’s lieutenant general, namely Michael O’Dwyer.
It is available on the Amazon Prime OTT platform. This critically acclaimed biographical drama has an IMDb rating of 8.9 out of 10. It is directed by Vicky Donor (2012), Madras Cafe (2013) celebrity Shoojit Sircar.
4- Mimi
Laxman Utekar director Mimi was released on July 26. It stars Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles, with film critics praising the two actors’ acting. It revolves around Kriti, who chooses to become a surrogate mother for a foreign couple.
Although critics have criticized the film’s script by calling it Contrived, it has an IMDb rating of 8/10. You can find it on the Jio Cinema & Netflix streaming platforms. It is produced under the banner of Maddock Films with the association of Jio Studios.
Chhori is a remake of the 2017 Marathi movie Lapachhapi. It is a horror movie starring Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015) famous Nushrrat Bharucha as the main role of Sakshi. It is directed and co-written by Vishal Furia.
It premiered directly on the leading streaming platform Amazon Prime Video on November 26, 2021. Made under the banner of giant production house T-Series in collaboration with Crypt TV and A Psych Film. IMDb Rating 7.3 / 10.
6- Nail polish
This legal thriller is based on a trial by a social activist accused of raping and then murdering migrant children. It stars Arjun Rampal and Manav Kaul in important roles. Directed and written by Bugs Bhargava Krishna. It’s available on the local Over the Top (OTT) Zee 5 platform. The IMDb rating is 7.3 out of 10.
South Korean actor Rana Daggubati, star Haathi Mere Saathi, had skipped its theatrical release due to the coronavirus and aired directly on pay-TV entertainment channel Zee Cinema on September 18, 2021.
It was filmed simultaneously in Tamil as Kaadan, Telugu as Aranya, and HMS as Hindi, all of these versions have slightly different star cast. Pulkit Samrat is presented in the Hindi version as Shankar. It is available on the Jiocinema streaming platform.

Kangana Ranaut star Thalaivii is based on the life of former Tamilnadu CM, the late J. Jayalalithaa. It is made up of a budget of around Rs 100 crore, but could not win well at the box office despite mostly positive reviews from critics. It was released during the second wave of corona on September 10, 2021.
