Many Bollywood actors here have been victims of death rumors and while many of them took it with a grain of salt and responded to it with humor. Some have indeed also become very worried because of concerns from friends and family.

Prem Chopra

Veteran actor Prem Chopra is the latest victim of death pranks as this morning he heard reports of his passing from his friends. Reacting strongly to them, the actor told ETimes, “It’s sadism, what else! Someone derives sadistic pleasure from falsely informing people that I am no longer. But here I am talking to you, absolutely fine and in good spirits.

Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan has been the victim of death rumors and it happened when a blog post claimed that the megastar died in a car accident in the United States. The report also gave details of his supposed funeral, which worried his fans. However, the actor chose not to answer anything and eventually the truth came out.


Earlier this year, a Facebook page named Siasat Bhadod Ki shared a post on June 19, writing, “Rip#Dharmendra son of Punjab said goodbye to this mortal world, may he find peace at the feet of Waheguru.” The reports obviously turned out to be false and even his sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol reportedly denied these stories.

Farida Jalal

In 2017, sudden reports suggested that veteran actress Farida Jalal had passed away. However, she gave a stern response to these reports citing DNA, “I’m fit and warm. I don’t know where these baseless rumors come from. At first I laughed, but for 30 minutes my phone has been ringing constantly and everyone is asking the same question. It’s a bit annoying, I wonder why people spread such rumors.

Lucky Ali

Last year, amid the second wave of Covid, there were reports that singer-actor Lucky Ali died, although soon after Nafisa Ali clarified these rumors by saying that she had spoken. Later, even Ali himself posted on his Instagram stories, clarifying all doubts. He wrote, “Hi everyone, just responding to rumours. I’m alive and well at home haha. Even Badshah Shah Rukh Khan was not spared from these false reports. In 2017 there were stories about his death in a plane crash. While his fans were shocked after hearing the news, the actor showed his signature sense of humor in his response by tweeting, “TGIF! I survived the week despite a plane crash, a fatal accident on set and yet another title from Imtiaz Ali’s film!”

Ayushmann Khurrana

The younger generation of actors has also fallen prey to reports such as a website reporting that the actor died in a snowboarding accident while vacationing with friends and family in Switzerland. Ayushmann took to Twitter to address these rumors writing, “I’ve heard weird rumors about my disappearance. RIP rumor mongers. Thank you!”

Mukesh Khanna

Indian superhero OG, actor Shaktimaan Mukesh Khanna has also been the victim of death rumours. This happened to him last year and he responded harshly to these social media reports saying: “I am here to inform you that I am perfectly fine. I am very fine. I am here to refute the rumours, I have been asked to refute them and that is what I want to do. I also wish to condemn those who spread such rumours. That’s a problem with social media.”

Meenakshi Sheshadri

Last year, even former actress Meenakshi Sheshadri faced false death rumors and instead of giving a big answer, the actress opted to just drop a photo on her social media, quashing all those rumours.

Shakti Kapoor

In 2015, Shakti Kapoor woke up one day to dozens of worried calls from friends and family checking on him to see if he was alive. A Whatsapp attacker had said the actor died in a car accident on his way to Khandala, which worried his relatives. However, the actor spoke to Mumbai Mirror to clarify this information saying: “I assured them I was fine but the calls don’t stop. I’m tired of telling people I’m not dead.
