Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Mahesh Babu’s recent statement ‘Bollywood can’t afford me’ has sparked a debate among netizens. Amid the controversy, let’s take a look at some of the Bollywood movies that were rejected by Mahesh Babu.
Animal- The lead role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming ‘Animal’ movie was originally offered to Mahesh Babu, but he rejected the offer saying the character was too dark for him. Ranbir Kapoor plays the lead role in the film opposite Rashmika Mandanna. “Animal” is slated for release in 2023.
Pushpa- Allu ArjunMahesh Babu’s hit movie “Pushpa” was offered to Mahesh Babu, but due to busy schedule, he couldn’t accept the offer.
Ghajini– AR Murugadoss had approached Mahesh Babu to play the role of Sanjay Singhania in the hit 2008 film, but the Tollywood actor turned it down. Amir Khan played the role instead and he received a lot of love from fans.
The Untitled Film by Karan Johar- According to a report from Bollywood Life, Karan Johar had offered Mahesh Babu a role in his Hindi film, but the actor had clearly refused.
Mahesh Babu in his recent statement, following the controversy, clarified that he loves cinema and respects all languages. The actor said he was comfortable making films where he had worked for so long and was happy to see his dream come true as Telugu cinema moved on. Moreover, he assured his fans that his next film with SS Rajamouli will be a pan-Indian film.
For the uninitiated, Mahesh Babu recently said at Adivi Sesh’s ‘Major’ trailer launch that he got a lot of offers in Hindi but he thinks they can’t afford it. and that he didn’t want to waste his time or anyone else’s.
On the work side, Mahesh Babu will soon be seen in his next film “Sarkaru Vaari Paata” which will be released on May 12.
