Anyone can play a fictional person but there’s a lot at stake for an actor when forced to portray someone non-fictional. The public is looking for similarities and resemblances and that is why it takes a brilliant actor play someone real.
We have a few examples of actors who literally put themselves in the shoes of the people they played in their biopic. They wowed the audience by getting their look and mannerism just right.
Here are seven such actors who played real-life characters and wowed fans with their brilliant acting:
1. Sidharth Malhotra as Captain Vikram Batra
Sidharth Malhotra brought the late Indian Army Captain Vikram Batra back to life in Sherchaah, the braveheart who sacrificed his life for the country.
Interestingly, Malhotra was the first choice of the Martyr Soldier’s parents because they thought his facial features resembled their son’s.
2. Ranbir Kapoor as Sanjay Dutt
You’d be lying if you said you didn’t have to remember that you actually see Ranbir Kapoor playing the role of Sanjay Dutt in his biopic. Sanju and not looking at Sanju Baba himself.
Kapoor nailed the character by getting the mannerism and that heavy eye.
3. Madhavan as Nambi Narayanan
Be it the impressive makeup or the brilliant acting, Madhavan literally turned into Nambi Narianan in Rocket: The Nambi Effect. He played the former ISRO rocket scientist at different stages of his life and was compelling in every frame.
4. Sonam Kapoor As Neerja
Sonam portrayed the brave and heroic flight attendant in her biopic, neerja and had a completely different character from the roles she had played late.
Looking at the photos of the real Neerja at the end of the movie, you could say she was the best choice to play her.
5. Farhan Akhtar as Milkha Singh
Akhtar possessed the kind of zeal, determination and commitment needed to play the legendary sprinter in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and he looked exactly like him in several scenes of the movie too. He totally nailed the role.
6. Sushant Singh Rajput as MS Dhoni
We can’t imagine anyone playing “Captain Cool” better than Sushant.
From his signature helicopter kick to his smile and the iconic long hair look, he reflected the cricketer so seamlessly it’s almost unbelievable.
7. Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev
Ranveer is one of Bollywood’s top actors and watches it as former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev in 83 leaves no doubt in anyone’s mind.
It felt like we were watching a real clip of young Dev getting us the World Cup in 2021.
