There have been many times that Bollywood actors have found themselves in a deep financial crisis where they went bankrupt or were on the verge of bankruptcy.

Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan had set up his own production house Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL) in 1996, but until 1999 the company was in a major financial mess and approached BIFR (Board of Industrial and Financial Reconstruction) to be classified as a sick business. Despite being a big star, Big B was officially bankrupt, all his properties were mortgaged, he was in debt of Rs 90 crore while there were no movies to back him up. In a post, Big B once recounted his bankruptcy in 2000, “In the year 2000, while the whole world was celebrating the new century, I was celebrating my disastrous fortune. There were no movies, no money and no company.
Shah Rukh Khan
Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan had produced the sci-fi film Ra.One. The film also starred Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in the lead roles. Ra. One was produced with a huge budget of Rs 150 crores but failed to perform at the box office. Apparently, this left Khan in a deep financial crisis. It is said that SRK had signed blank checks during the production of the film. But SRK quickly recovered from bankruptcy with films like Don 2 and Jab Tak Hain Jaan.
Raj Kapoor
Mera Naam Joker was released in theaters in 1970. The film gave Kapoor major international acclaim and it is also one of the most iconic films of all time. But Mera Naam Joker fell at the box office, leaving the actor in financial crisis. Speaking to IANS, Rishi Kapoor had said, “We were in serious trouble. Then he did a movie called Bobby with a new boy and a new girl, which was a huge risk after seeing Mera Naam’s failed Joker. But it became super successful and that’s when his friends and my uncles insisted he buy a house.
Govinda
Govinda is one of Bollywood’s most beloved actors. He was an icon in the 90s and 2000s. But his career reached a consolidation at some point and he didn’t receive any offers for 3-4 years. The actor quickly found himself in debt and was even seen collapsing in front of the press. But, he soon made a box office comeback with Salman Khan in the film Partner which was highly rated at the box office.
Preity Zinta
Preity had made his return to Bollywood with the film Ishkq In Paris in 2013. The film was produced by his own production company. But the film did not do well at the box office at all. This left Zinta in a major financial crisis. But it is said that Preity then received help from his close friend in Bollywood Salman Khan.
