Anupam Kher’s film The Kashmir Files became the highest-grossing Hindi film this year. The actor recently shared in an interview his opinions on why Bollywood films failed to perform at the box office while Southern films turned out to be blockbusters.
The actor thinks the reason behind this is that Southern films focus more on storytelling. On the other hand, Bollywood movies focus on wrapping the movie around a movie star.
In an interview with The Times Of India, the veteran actor said, “You do things for consumers. (The problem begins) the day you start looking down on consumers, ‘we’re doing you a favor by making a great movie. “. Now you are watching a great movie. Greatness is achieved by a collective effort and which I learned by making movies in Telugu… I just made another movie in Telugu, I made a movie in Tamil language, I will make a film in Malayalam”, as quoted by the Times Of India.
“I think there, I don’t make the difference between the two but I think (their) cinema is relevant because they don’t ape Hollywood. They tell stories, here we sell stars”, a- he added again.
Anupam Kher recently appeared in a cameo role in Nikhil Siddhartha’s Telgu mystery adventure film, Karthikeya 2. His film even surpassed Laal Singh Chaddha and Dobaaraa at the Hindi box office. The film is written and directed by Chandoo Mondeti and is the sequel to the 2014 film Karthikeya.
Earlier Wednesday, the actor took to Instagram and celebrated the success of his film. He wrote, “Meri to nikal padi dosto (I’m on a roll) The Kashmir Files ke baad meri Karthikeya 2 film bhi blockbuster hai!! (After The Kashmir Files my thread Karthikeya 2 is also a blockbuster).”
The actor will next be seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai. The star cast of the film also includes Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani and Parineeti Chopra. He will also make an appearance as Jayaprakash Narayan in Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency.
