Leaving a high-paying, secure job to become an actor is a tough decision to make. It is a well known fact that thousands of people come to Mumbai to make a name for themselves in Bollywood but only a few get the opportunities. Most of them end up paying high rents while sitting around hoping to get their big break or get called back. To serve as inspiration, here are 8 names who didn’t start out as actors but took a leap of faith and made it.

Dhairya Karwa

Dhairya Karwa, who started her career as a model in Delhi and moved to Mumbai in 2016 to become an actor, worked as a data analyst at a company in Gurgaon and planned to pursue an MBA if the movies didn’t happen.

Ranveer Singh

The hottest name in the industry, Ranveer Singh has always wanted to be an actor. He also made sure that he went all the way with his degrees. the Jayeshbhai Jordaar The actor completed his studies at HR College of Commerce and Economics in Mumbai and continued his undergraduate studies at Indiana University in Bloomington. Before he started acting, he worked as a copywriter and worked with major advertising agencies like O&M and JWT. And then he made his debut in 2010 with Anushka Sharma in Baaja Baarat Group.

Vicky Kaushal

Vicky Kaushal has an impressive background. He abandoned engineering for the theatre, obtained a degree in electronics and telecommunications in 2008. He was placed by several reputable firms and refused everything. He began to pursue his acting career and started with theater. After doing many small projects, came his big break with Massaanwhere he won our hearts and received many accolades for his role.

John Abraham

John received his bachelor’s degree in economics from Jai Hind College and then pursued master’s studies in management science at the Mumbai Educational Trust. It was in 1998. Initially, he started out as a model, but then he joined an advertising agency named Enterprises-Nexus and worked there as a media planner. We will see it soon in Attack.

Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha has been on point with his fashion game and it’s also because of his training. She graduated in Design from Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University in Mumbai. She has worked as a costume designer and stylist for several films. She stepped into the limelight after her walk down the ramp at Lakme Fashion Week. After that, she was offered a lead role in Dabangg, with Salman Khan.

Taapsee Pannu

Before becoming an actress with a penchant for strong roles in Bollywood, Taapsee Pannu was a software engineer. She graduated from Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology, New Delhi. She first auditioned for the Channel V show Get gorgeous, which opened the door to her Bollywood debut as a lead actress in Pink.

Akshay Kumar

Before debuting with Saugandh in 1991 Akshay Kumar worked as a chef and taught martial arts. A college student suggested he could become a model to earn a few extra bucks. Following this advice, he tries his luck in modeling and acting.

Bhumi Pednekar

Bhumi Pednekar has been in the film industry the longest, but that’s off screen. She was in charge of casting the actors. Pednekar worked as a casting assistant before making her acting debut with Dum Laga Ke Haisha.
