Every year, filmmakers announce many Bollywood movies. A lot of movies never make it past the pre-production stages. We may get excited after every major Bollywood project is announced, but there is always a risk that the movie being made will get hit at the last minute and never make it to the big screen. Whether it’s lack of funding or mysterious delays, some films are destined to remain pipe dreams. Here is a list of movies that were announced but never released for one reason or another.
From : It was conceptualized to be a very big action movie starring Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan by director Mukul Anand in 1997. The two actors starred as two Indian secret agents who were on the ground to prevent a war indo-pakistani. However, midway through the filming schedule, Anand passed away. To this day, this film remains incomplete and unpublished.
Munna Bhai Chale America: After Munna Bhai’s (Sanjay Dutt) short-lived tryst with the law in Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani released a trailer for Munna Bhai Chale Amerika in 2007. The plot revolved around Munna Bhai and Circuit (Arshad Warsi) while traveling in the United States. But too much happened too quickly after the release of this trailer. Sanjay served time in prison, and both creators were unhappy with the storyline for Part 3. The project was therefore abandoned.
Shuddhi: Karan Johar’s Shuddhi project has become almost infamous with its various casting changes and rumored cancellations. Initially, reports suggested that the movie was supposed to star Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, but later Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s name came up. Finally, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt were touted to star in the project, but after that, there were no updates on the movie. Although there is still some hope, Shuddhi’s fate remains a great mystery.
Shoe bite: Almost ten years ago, Amitabh Bachchan was approached by Percept Picture Company to star in a film directed by Shoojit Sircar. Called Johnny Walker at the time, the film never saw the light of day. Sircar then sold the film rights to UTV Motion Pictures and renamed it Shoebite. Sadly what stalled it was a massive legal battle between the two outlets, amidst this chaos Shoebite, although fully booked, has still not been given a green light.
Paani: Shekhar Kapur’s Paani was dropped, who was due to play the late Sushant Singh Rajput. Rumor has it that it was way over budget and the script just didn’t come to fruition, after which, YRF, the producers backed off.
Inshallah: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Inshallah was supposed to bring Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt together on screen for the first time. The film was slated for an Eid 2020 release. However, just three days before the film aired, Salman tweeted that the film had been pushed back indefinitely. Although there have been reports of a fallout between Salman and Bhansali, there has been no official confirmation as to why the film was shelved. As SLB went ahead and did ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ with Alia, Salman announced ‘Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali’ with Pooja Hegde.
Battle of Saragarhi: Randeep Hooda’s Battle of Saragarhi film was announced even before Akshay Kumar’s Kesari, and he had prepared intensely for the role, but the film was shelved and after Kesari, nothing came of it. understood.
