Nagarjuna Akkineni opens up about taking fewer roles in Bollywood films, says ‘It was important for me to…’

Telegu star Nagarjuna Akkineni grabbed a lot of attention with her brief but impactful role in the recently released film brahmastra. He appeared in a Hindi film after almost two decades. The actor, who mostly stars in Telugu movies, has explained why he doesn’t appear in many Bollywood movies. He also explained why he chose to work on Brahmastra after turning down a number of “big” roles in Hindi films over the years.

Nagarjuna made his Bollywood debut with his film shiva. Since then he has contributed to Hindi films such as Khuda Gawah, Drohi, and Zakhm, among others. His last hindi movie before brahmastra has been LOC Kargil (2003), in which he played Major Padmapani Acharya.

In an interview with PTI, he revealed, “I was getting amazing roles. (But) I’m kind of a domestic bird. I love living in Hyderabad. I’ve always played very special roles in Bollywood. What I’ve done since the beginning, it was important to me to entertain people. All the roles I’ve played have come looking for me, I’ve never been there.”

The actor further revealed, “Here working in Bollywood, I watch it for the experience and soul satisfaction as they call it and I play roles that are not on my shoulders. been like that.”

He claimed that the decision to participate in brahmastrain which he plays an artist named Anish Shetty who wears the Nandi Astra, was made because it felt like a “rare opportunity” at a time when all of India’s film industries are merging into one.
