Over the years, several comedians have paved the way for future actors and the industry through their actions, deeds, or cinematic choices. While many actors today continue to go about their business and return to film sets weeks or days after getting married, there was a time when that wasn’t common.

In recent years, we have seen Deepika Padukone, Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra get married and resume their professional commitments. However, many actors took sabbaticals after getting married and then made a comeback. Check out the list below:

Rani Mukerji

Rani Mukerji gave her fans memorable performances, but the actress pulled out of the film after marrying Aditya Chopra in 2014 in a private ceremony in Italy. That year Rani’s blockbuster Mardaani was released and in December 2015 the actress welcomed her daughter Adira. She then kept her full focus on family and only made a comeback in 2018 with Hichki.

Madhuri Dixit

The ‘Dhak Dhak’ girl stepped away from the limelight in 1999 when she married her husband Dr Sriram Nene and moved to the United States. Although he was in the United States, Madhuri did not give up films in the conventional sense and continued to film. However, the actress went on hiatus after welcoming her first child in 2003 and again in 2005. It wasn’t until 2007 that she made a big comeback with Aaja Nachle.

Shilpa Shetty

Today, Shilpa Shetty is known as an entrepreneur, actress, mom, yoga diva, and wife. Starting out in the early 90s, Shilpa Shetty won hearts slowly and steadily with her performances and cinematic choices. She got married to Raj Kundra in 2009 and took a sabbatical to stay out of the spotlight. Even though Shilpa fans have missed her, the actress has built several other professional fronts and that too successfully. She made her official comeback in 2021 with Hungama 2.

Sridevi

The late Sridevi has rightfully earned the title of India’s first female superstar. She married producer Boney Kapoor in 1996 and welcomed her first daughter Janhvi Kapoor in 1997. After that, Sridevi took a long break and devoted her time to raising her daughters Janhvi and Khushi. The actress returned only once in 2004, and then took advantage of her family. It’s his big comeback in 2012 with English Vinglish and later Mom that remains fresh in our memories.

Karisma Kapoor

The super cool and stylish titular actress of the 90s, Karisma Kapoor has swayed an entire generation of moviegoers in her favour. The actress married businessman Sanjay Kapoor in 2003 and in 2004 Karisma took a break from her job. In 2005, she welcomed her first child and daughter Samaira. Karisma only made movies in 2006 and then came back with a single release. Since then, Karisma has done cameos, voiceovers, or guest judged, until her digital debut in 2020 with Mentalhood.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Another major name in the history of female superstars is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The actress got married in a grand wedding to Abhishek Bachchan in 2007 and gave impressive and solid performances until 2010. However, after welcoming her daughter Aaradhya, the actress took a sabbatical and made a comeback four years later with the box office failing. Jazbaa.
