Although he is an A-list star of Bollywood, actor Ranveer Singh does not shy away from risky and offbeat ventures and he often works with Hindi film legends in such films. Ranveer is currently working on films like ‘Cirkus’ and ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ and in a recent chat with ETimes, he talked about working alongside Johnny Lever and Dharmendra in those films.
Recalling his experience with Johnny, the actor said: “There was that time I was filming on Rohit Shetty’s set for Cirkus. I walked past the vanity vans to reach the set. Passing by, I came across a van that had the name Johnny Lever. It hit me in an instant that I’m working with a legend. Johnny Lever is an industry mainstay when it comes to comedy. I was about to do a scene with Johnny sir, whose comedies we saw for years before he became an actor.”
Sharing his earliest memories of Johnny Lever, Ranveer added, “It was one of the first live comedy shows my dad took me to see when I was a kid in an auditorium in Juhu. He would pull out his white handkerchief and wipe his sweat. It would be hot on stage and he would continue to chain the pieces of humor one after the other.
Opening up about his scene alongside Dharmendra in ‘Rocky Aur Rani…’, Ranveer said: “On set, Karan was keeping us informed. Dharamji was in the room and he was listening intently. And when I started playing the scene with him in the frame, it was just him and me, and I realized what a moment it was! Who can do this? How did I even get here? Sometimes I have to pinch myself to believe all this is happening to me. Working with these pillars is like living a dream.
