Akshay Kumar’s highly anticipated film ‘Ram Setu’ was released last Tuesday and apart from Nushrratt Bharuccha and Jacqueline Fernandez, it also starred Brazilian model and actress Jeniffer Piccinato as a geologist named Dr. Gabrielle. In a recent chat with IANS, Jeniffer shared her experience working on this project and also revealed how she managed to land the role.
She said: “I auditioned twice for the role of Dr Gabrielle, my acting coach Jeff Goldberg referred me to director Abhishek Sharma. As soon as I was given the script I started to preparing for the role of Gabrielle. I had to change my physical appearance, for this I gained weight (10 kg), I kept my natural hair color and curly hair texture for a more natural look for the character.”
Sharing how she has done most of her own water stunts, Jeniffer said: “My manager asked me if I wanted to do my own water stunts and I said yes he asked me if I could swim and I I said, no, but I can learn it. I took swimming and diving lessons for 2 months so I could perform my own water stunts. It was very difficult. Swimming is still instinctive.
Recalling the difficult time she and the production team faced, the actress said, “The weather was cold and the waves were strong, but with the support of the action team and the protocols of safety, I felt confident to perform and I’m very happy with that particular shot in the film.”
Despite tons of hype and an elaborate marketing campaign, “Ram Setu” did not perform well at the box office and it was widely criticized by critics for its preachy and shoddy script.
