Bollywood has produced several hugely successful films based on or adapted from blockbusters in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. South Indian movies usually hit the mark and remakes are often seen as a safe option in Bollywood.

Kolamaavu Kokila (2018)
Jahnvi Kapoor’s next film Good Luck Jerry which is a remake of Tamil film Kolamavu Kokila. The film is set to hit theaters from July 29, 2022. Director Sidharth Sengupta has wrapped filming and Jahnvi has been busy promoting his upcoming film.
BLOW (2020)
The Hindi remake of the 2020s crime drama “HIT” (Homicide Intervention Team) is currently in production and stars Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra. The movie is called “HIT – The First Case”. In the film, Rao is portrayed as a policeman who battles PTSD. The filmmakers haven’t revealed the release date, but it’s slated for release sometime this year.
Kaithi (2019)
Director Dharmendra Sharma is busy filming Bholla, a remake of Tamil blockbuster Bholaa. Ajay Devgn is the main character featured in the film. In the film, an ex-con searches for his daughter after her release from prison. He is, however, stopped by a drug raid.
The release of the film is announced for March 30, 2023.
Soorarai Pottru (2020)
Akshay Kumar recently confirmed that his next film is Hindi adaptation of Tamil film Soorarai Pottru. Suriya’s cameo is also confirmed. In the Tamil version of the film, the main character is portrayed as a young man from another village, who has the ambition to start his own airline company. But to succeed in his mission, he must face a number of difficulties.
The filmmakers have yet to decide on the title. The movie is in production and Akshay fans have to wait for the release.
Vikram Veda (2017)
The Hindi remake of the same title by Vikram Vedha starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan in key roles. The remake’s creators, Pushkar-Gayathri, tell us they “didn’t change much” with the plot and it will be released on September 30, 2022. Bollywood actor Madhavan was a part of the original film.
Annyan (2005)
Along with Ranveer Singh, director Shankar will adapt his hit 2005 film “Anniyan”, dubbed in Hindi as “Aparichit”. Ranveer will face the three characters played by Vikram. He will be considered a lawyer with multiple personality disorder. The film is a psychological thriller. The film is expected to be released in the second quarter of this year.
Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo (2020)
Allu Arjun raised his status after “Pushpa: The Rise”, especially in Hindi-speaking areas. The remake of his 2020 hit family comedy “Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo,” Shehzaada starring Kartik Aryan and Kriti Sanon, is currently in production. This year’s film directed by Rohit Dhawan is set to be released on November 4.
Helen (2019)
A remake of his own 2019 Malayalam film Helen, the upcoming survival thriller Mili is an Indian Hindi production directed by Mathukutty Xavier. Starring Manoj Pahwa and Sunny Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor stars as a woman trapped in a freezer fighting for her life in the Boney Kapoor-produced film.
Veram (2014)
An upcoming action comedy movie titled “Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali” is produced by Salman Khan Films and directed by Farhad Samji. Salman Khan, Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh and Jagapathi Babu play major roles in the film. It is a remake of the 2014 Tamil film Veeram. Production started in Mumbai in May 2022.
The film will be released in theaters from December 30, 2022.
Chatrapathi (2005)
Pen Studios produces a big budget movie in Bollywood titled Chatrapathi which is a Hindi remake of the Telugu movie with the same title “Chatrapathi” which was released in 2005.
This would be Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas’ first Bollywood debut. The film is set to hit theaters in July 2022, though the plot, cast, and trailer are yet to be revealed. The sources also say that some scenes will be edited as required by bollywood fans.
Driving license (2019)
Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi will star in the official Hindi remake of the 2019 Malayalam comedy-drama starring Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu titled “Selfiee”. According to the sources, the film will be directed by Raj Mehta and will be released in 2023.
Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (2016)
Varun Dhawan will play the lead role in the Hindi remake of Karthick Naren’s Tamil murder thriller Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, with Parineeti Chopra reportedly playing the female lead.
The film will be directed by Naren and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and is tentatively titled “Sanki”. The film is currently in production and could hit theaters in late 2022 or early 2023.
Master (2020)
A Tamil action drama master of 2020 who set many records during the pandemic outbreak. According to several media speculations, Salman Khan will be playing the title character in his Hindi remake. The original motion featured Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi. The remake will hit theaters next year.
Thadam (2019)
In the Hindi adaptation of the popular Tamil film “Thadam”, Mrunal Thakur will co-star with Aditya Roy Kapur. Mrunal will be seen as a cop in the Hindi remake of the film. The filmmakers commented that the Hindi version would be called “Gumraah”. The release date is still secret.
Naandhi (2021)
For the Hindi adaptation of the 2021 Telugu hit, Naandhi, Ajay Devgn and Dil Raju are working in collaboration. Last year, the actor tweeted about the remake and informed his fans by tweeting the news without sharing any further information.
Ratsasan (2018)
One of Akshay’s most anticipated films, Mission Cinderella, is directed by Ranjit Tiwari and is a legal remake of the Tamil classic Ratsasan. According to recent sources, the creators are planning to make it an OTT series with a limited number of episodes, and they might decide to stream it. Previously, the movie was said to be released in April 2022, which has now been postponed, but the next date is still under wraps.
Drishyam 2 (2021)
Ajay Devgn and Tabu will team up again for their sequel thriller “Drishyam”. Following the recent success of regional film Drishyam 2 starring Mohanlal, Bollywood seized the opportunity to recreate the sequel. The Bollywood adaptation of Drishyam 2 is set to debut this year. Drishyam 2 release date was recently announced by Ajay Devgn on social media. He revealed that Drishyam 2 will hit theaters on November 18, 2022.
Comali (2019)
In 2019, producer Boney Kapoor announced that he had purchased the rights to the Tamil film Comali with plans to remake it in Hindi and other languages. Boney also tweeted that the Hindi remake will feature his son Arjun Karoor. According to reports, Arjun Kapoor resumed filming after the pandemic and the movie will be available for fans soon.
The Great Indian Kitchen (2021)
Actress Nimisha Sajayan played the lead role in the critically acclaimed Malayalam film ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’, directed by Jeo Baby.
The Great Indian Kitchen, a critically acclaimed Malayalam film, will be remade in Hindi starring actor Sanya Malhotra, producer Harman Baweja and director Arati Kadav. The Sanya fan will have to wait for the release date as the makers have not made it public.
Aruvi (2017)
Director Eeshwar Nivas took the responsibility of remaking Malayalam film Aruvi on his shoulders. Actress Dangal Fatima Sana has been signed for the lead role. While she left the film due to filming date conflicts with her other project. The new actress and other information has not been disclosed at this time.
Joseph (2018)
A Hindi version of Malayalam crime thriller ‘Joseph’, ‘Soorya’ is currently in production and stars Bollywood actor Sunny Deol.
Padmakumar, who also supervised the first film, will direct this one. There are still a lot of unknowns regarding the film. The film is rumored to be released in September this year, although the filmmakers are silent on this.
Ayyappanum Koshiyum (2020)
The Hindi version of the Malayalam film Ayyappanum Koshiyum is said to be helmed by director Jagan Shakti, who announced it in 2021. Actors John Abraham and Arjun Kapoor will play the key roles in the Hindi version, according to the director of Mission Mangal. The film is in production and should be released next year.
