Action superstar Vidyut Jammwal has donated a magnificent sum of Rs. 5 lakhs to Ekaveera Kalaripayattu Academy with the promise to support and promote the students for the rest of his life. The Academy strives to support children learning the ancient discipline of Kalaripayattu. A young student named Neelakandan from the academy took to his Twitter to express his gratitude to the Khuda Haafiz actor. On his Twitter account, the young martial artist said: “Extremely grateful and honored! Met @VidyutJammwal in Mumbai and he supported Ekaveera Kalaripayattu academy with huge contribution of Rs 5 lakh. This will greatly help us in realizing our dream of promoting Kalaripayattu across India.
Popularly known as the Prince of Kalaripayattu, Neelakandan has shown incredible skills, achieved tough physical feats and earned social media star status. Hailing Vidyut as his idol, the young martial artist impressed our own country boy. Promising that he has bigger plans for Kalaripayattu and will help anyone promoting the ancient discipline, Jammwal praised Neelakandan and his father who heads the said academy. Meeting his real-life role model was a dream come true for the boy, who tweeted: “One of the greatest moments of my life! I met Vidyut Jamwal and got this T-shirt from him. Also was lucky enough to be able to perform some Kalaripayattu moves with him. Dream come true!”
His father Mahesh Kumar R said, “Neelakandan said he wanted to meet Mr. Vidyut and he wanted to be as big as him. We had the opportunity to meet him today. He gave her an “I train like Vidyut Jammwal” t-shirt. He donated Rs. 5,00,000/— towards our academy and we believe that it is only Vidyut Jammwal who can make Kalaripayattu a global brand that it is today. Largesse will be used to promote Kalaripayattu.
Vidyut Jammwal said, “India’s traditional methods of health (care and prevention) need to be revived. Kalaripayattu is the best ancient health culture available today. The need of the hour is to bring this art to the world. Starting from Kerala, funding and financially supporting the Gurus of Kalaripayattu and Kalaris (schools) is only the first step. I have bigger plans for Kalaripayattu and its traditional and modern practitioners in the near future.
