Vivek Agnihotri on Bollywood Movies: The Only Problems Are Whether You Sleep…

Kashmir Archives Director Vivek Agnihotri hailed Javed Akhtar. The actor said: “Even a man like Javed Akhtar, the bhajans he wrote for Lagaan were pure Hindi. ‘Madhuban mein Radha..’ there is not a single Urdu word in it. Because ‘ they were cultured and intelligent people, attached to the roots of India. He can be a communist, he can fight against the right, it doesn’t matter.

He further added, “All the heroes of Javed Akhtar, all of them were either a worker’s son or a teacher’s son and he would fight a dacoit or a mill owner or a zamindar. He would fight a corrupt police inspector or a corrupt deputy. In which movie of recent times would you find MPs, MPs, police inspectors, IAS agents as villains? It’s as if India has no problem. The only issues are whether you sleep with this person or that person. That’s where they brought Bollywood.”

“The Kashmir Files”, which aired nationwide on March 11, depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Kashmir Valley in the 1990s. Although the film, starring Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty and Darshan Kumar, has been called out for his problematic politics by some critics and authors, he performed well at the box office fetching over Rs 350 crore.

The filmmaker recently revealed that he will once again be reuniting with the producer of his latest historical drama to tell some deep stories. Taking to his official Twitter account, Agnihotri announced that his I Am Buddha Foundation has taken a step towards collaborating with film producer Abhishek Agarwal for his next project.
